A youth-oriented group has accused the Akufo-Addo government of having committed an illegality in contracting the 2.25 billion-dollar bond, and given the President 15 days to form the board of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to investigate the matter. Tullow Oil says plans are underway to resume drilling next year to boost output at its Tweneboa, Enyenra, Ntomme (TEN) field once the maritime dispute between Ghana and The Cote d’Ivoire is resolved. The Regent of Dagbon in the Northern Region, Kampakuya Naa Andani Yakubu, has asked the Aviation Ministry to take steps to protect the 6,000 acres land earmarked for the construction of airdrome in the Yendi Municipality. He particularly wants a fence constructed on the land to protect it from encroachers to avoid any people from encroaching on the land like the previous ones given the Ghana Airports Company. Gunmen from a Christian sect have stormed a prison in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s capital, freeing their leader and about 50 other inmates, a government spokesman says. Shots were fired and vehicles torched as Ne Muanda Nsemi was freed from the jail in Kinshasa, witnesses said. Police are suspected to have shot dead several prisoners, witnesses added. The ultra-modern Greater Accra Regional Hospital, formerly Ridge Hospital, in Accra has opened to the public, five months after its commissioning by former president John Mahama. The 420-bed facility has a comprehensive diagnostic and treatment block with a 24-hour surgical theatre, accident and emergency unit, neonatal intensive care unit, intensive care unit, delivery unit, pharmacy among others.
