A one-sided Parliament Wednesday approved the 2017 budget and financial policy of government that was presented to it by Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta without the support of the Minority. An electrician who inserted his finger into the vagina of a four-year-old girl whilst carrying her at his back has been sentenced to six-month imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court. This was after the court had found Kofi Mensah aged 47, guilty on the charge of indecent assault. The Association of Oil Marketing Companies (AOMCs) has pledged its support for the newly appointed Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority, Alhassan S. Tampuli, to ensure a successful tenure. The Association underscored the need for more consultative meetings with the various committees working under the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and the oil marketing companies. “There should be collaboration between the Association and the NPA to educate the public on siting of fuel stations/outlets as well as the general education on safety,” it said. A man believed to be in his 50s has allegedly committed suicide at Saaka, a farming community at Zebilla in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region. The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has submitted the names of 54 persons to Parliament for approval as Ministers of State and Deputy Ministers. Over 100 record number of persons called the hotline of the Mental Health Authority for suicide-related help within three days, the Authority has said. The helpline 020-681-4666 is paid for, which Dr Akwasi Osei the chief executive officer of the Authority finds even curious. Within a spate of 14 days, 10 persons have committed suicide across the country including a 14-year-old child. Many have attributed varied reasons to the upsurge in suicide cases, with the absence of counseling services being prominent. Ghanaian boxer Ayittey Powers has been robbed of GH¢3, 000 by his house help, who is also reported to have made away with his wife’s underwear and some other items from their Dansoman house.
