A Ghanaian delegation from the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the Judicial Service and the Office of the Attorney General has participated in a five-day exchange of experience programme in Madrid. They met with their peer institutions and analysed the similarities and differences between Ghana and Spain best practices, systems and experiences that contribute to improving the work processes for each country. A senior lecturer at the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana, Dr Alidu Seidu, has asked policy think-tank IMANI Ghana to rather focus its research on the impact of the fulfilled promises of the Akufo-Addo government. IMANI in its latest assessment of the promises made by President Nana Akufo-Addo and his New Patriotic Party in the run up to the 2016 elections concluded that only 48.78 per cent of promises made have been fulfilled. A teacher at the Agona Namanwura Senior High School in the Central Region has allegedly slapped a student for waving at the Member of Parliament for Agona East, Maame Pokuah Sawyer. Ashanti Regional branch of the Health Services Workers Union has thrown its weight behind their national union for immediate redress of their working conditions or face their wrath. The Union says the freeze of the market premium is discriminatory compared to other public servants who earn market premium. A policeman has shot a driver’s mate in the leg over an alleged refusal to pay bribe at a police barrier at Inchaban in the Western Region. The 25-year-old John Essandoh has since Friday when the incident happened, been transported to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra for the bullet to be removed. The victim and his boss were transporting an empty container from the Tema Harbour to Takoradi on a trailer when they were stopped at the Inchaban Police barrier for snap inspection.
