Three more suspects have been picked up in the shooting incident at Mankessim in the Central Region that killed two persons including a Bureau of National Investigations officer. An outdooring of a queenmother, Nana Otua, turned bloody last Saturday when the BNI officer, Samuel Ampofo and a civilian were shot dead by some unknown assailants during a procession. Five persons were arrested at the weekend and another later, bringing the number of suspects to six. Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu in the Northern Region A.B.A Fuseini has accused President Akufo-Addo of sabotaging the process of reinstating Accra-based radio stations – Radio Gold and Radio XYZ. The Australian High Commissioner to Ghana, Andrew Barnes, has commissioned a 20-bed maternity ward in the Chuchulga community in the Upper East region. The project was funded through the Australian government’s Direct Aid Program (DAP), which was implemented by RISE Ghana, a local NGO working to improve human rights and ensure sustainable development in Ghana. The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) has pleaded with labour unions to respect due process before embarking on any industrial action. General Secretary, Solomon Kotei who gave the caution was reacting to the spate of strikes across the country in recent times. It took a high court order, for instance, to get three teacher unions – Ghana National Association of Graduate Teachers, Ghana National Association of Teachers and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers – to call off their strike over salary arrears and return to the classroom on Thursday.
