An emergency meeting held on Wednesday, December 11 involving staff and management of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) to persuade the workers to rescind the impending strike ended inconclusive. This was because, according to the workers, management failed to give them any hope that government has made an attempt to resolve the issue and that to them means government “disrespects” them. Supreme Court judge, Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah, has been nominated by President Nana Akufo-Addo as the next Chief Justice of Ghana, to succeed Justice Sophia Akuffo who retires on December 20, 2019. First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei Owusu announced his nomination to Members of Parliament Thursday, and referred it to the Appointments Committee, TV3’s Komla Klutse reports. Justice Anin-Yeboah is currently the fourth longest serving Supreme Court judge after justices Sophia Akuffo, Julius Ansah and Jones Mawulom Dotse. On the occasion of this year’s Farmers’ Day, the Coalition for Cocoa Sector Reforms (CSR) is pushing for expedited action on the implementation of a cocoa farmers’ pension scheme announced by the government.
