The former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Center (MASLOC), Sedinam Tamakloe-Attionu, has finally arrived in Ghana to serve her jail term.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Tuesday, June 9.
He stated on his official Facebook page that Madam Tamakloe-Attionu arrived on Tuesday and was immediately taken into custody by officers from the Ghana Police Service and Ghana Prisons Service.
The two state security agencies are “making the necessary preparations for her to begin her sentence”.
A staunch member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Madam Tamakloe-Attionu was convicted and sentenced in absentia in April 2024.
Due to her residence in the US, an extradition request was sent by Ghana’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice for her to serve her sentence in Accra.
“After over two years of court proceedings, the United States authorities notified the Government of her surrender in January this year,” Mr Kwakye Ofosu wrote.
“She arrived in Accra on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.”
The Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese Member of Parliament (MP) hinted that the Attorney General is concluding meetings with his opposite number in the US “for a bilateral discussion on all pending extradition requests between the two countries”.
Notable among the requests is to have former Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta return to Ghana to face trial for many cases.
