The Spokesperson of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has been released from custody at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
Dennis Miracles Aboagye was released after meeting all bail conditions.
The former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD) was arrested on Saturday night at the Accra International Airport upon return to Ghana.
He was arrested by EOCO with help from officials of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).
After barely 48 hours, having given access to his lawyers, he was granted a bail of GH¢50 million with three sureties, two to be justified.
His legal team failed to meet the conditions on Monday for which he spent an additional night in custody.
But on Tuesday, July 14, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, who had announced his intention to contest NPP’s National Communications Director position, was taken to his residences for the sureties.
He subsequently met all the bail conditions and was released.
According to EOCO, Dennis Miracles Aboagye is under investigations for financial irregularities at IMCCoD to the tune of GH¢55 million.
He is being investigated for conspiracy to steal and stealing, using public office for profit, causing financial loss to the State, dissipation of public funds, defrauding by false pretences, money laundering and other suspected offences.
An accomplice, Gerald Appiah, is said to have started refunding monies misappropriated by the two.
