Government is requesting for additional 6.3 billion cedis to support its 2019 budget, the parliamentary order paper for Monday’s proceedings has revealed.
Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta is expected to justify why government should be given the additional funds to spend for the rest of the year when he appears before parliament to present the 2019 mid-year review budget in few minutes.
Parliament in December last year approved 78, 771, 833,602 billion cedis to be expended by government for the 2019 financial year.
After six months of implementation of the 2019 budget, the government says it will need more than the over 78 billion cedis it requested to spend for the year.
A statement issued by the Finance Ministry Sunday said it will require more to be able to achieve the objective of the 2019 budget.
“[Government] “will see an upward revision of the 2019 appropriation ceiling and its underlying measures, in order to achieve the objectives of the 2019 budget theme of expanding the economy and increasing jobs” the statement said.
