Hundreds of New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters have besieged the head office of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in protest against the arrest of the Spokesperson of the party’s flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Dennis Miracles Aboagye is said to have been picked up upon return to Ghana at the Accra International Airport.
He is said to have been arrested with the help of officials of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).
His whereabouts is unknown but the party supporters believe he may be at the head office of EOCO.
Speaking to journalists outside the EOCO head office, NPP Youth Organiser Mustapha Salam said the action by EOCO is an affront to democracy and the deeds of the officers involved will catch up with them by time.
“You have power today but you don’t know tomorrow,” he said.
“Few months ago it was the NPP that was in power, today NDC is in power. Even if you stay here 100 years, one day you will go into opposition. So, people should be careful in the way they are misusing power in the way way they’re misbehaving today.”
