The Muslim community has been urged to abide by the 14-days lockdown directives by President Akufo-Addo to help contain the spread of COVID-19.
The Ashanti regional Zongo Chief, Sultan Alhaji Umar Farouk Saeed, has therefore entreated each Muslim to play active role towards minimizing the spread of the virus by staying at home and adhering to all safety precautions.
“I wish to encourage everyone to pay greater attention to regular washing of hands under running water with soap and also the use of hand sanitizers.”
The Sarkin Zongo made the call when he received some hand sanitizers and other protective gears for onward distributions to the less privileged in Zongo communities.
The donation was made by a native of Aboabo Zongo, Ali Suraj with support from the Ashanti region NPP secretariat.
Sultan Alhaji Umar Farouk Saeed also called on the privileged in society to support the less privileged with sanitizers and food items during the period of lockdown.
Ali Suraj earlier distributed over 4,000 hand sanitizers to some slum dwellers in Dagombaline and Alabar.
For him, this is the time the less-privileged must be supported and educated on the virus.
In the wake of coronavirus, the public is being entreated to wash their hands with soap and apply hand sanitizers at regular intervals, and also practice social distance.
Ghana has, as of April 1, 2020, recorded 195 cases of coronavirus.
