Delegates of the National Democratic Congress in Kumbungu have rejected the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, Ras Mubarak.
At the close of polls in the NDC parliamentary primary Saturday, Ras Mubarak had only 273 votes, meaning he cannot represent the party in the constituency in next year’s parliamentary election.
A senior lecturer at the University of Development Studies, Dr Hamza Ada, polled 401 votes, making him the winner of the contest which Ras Mubarak was optimistic of winning to represent his people once more.
The third aspirant, Abdallah Ibrahim Baba managed only 81 votes.
Mr Mubarak took to facebook few minutes after the declaration of the results by the Electoral Commission to accept the results and suggested he may try in another time.
“We gave our best. Clearly it wasn’t good enough. To God be the glory. We live to fight another day,” he posted.
