The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has suspended its strike.

The move, according to Association, is to allow negotiations for demands to continue.

This comes after an Accra High Court on Tuesday, September 22 issued a substituted service to be given the members of the GRNMA over their strike action.

The Court said the injunction notice should be published by three media houses, notices posted on the gates of the GRNMA office or copies should be left with the security guards.

The Association has been on strike since Monday, September 21, demanding better conditions of service.

Perpetual Ofori Ampofo, President of the GRNMA said at a press conference in Accra on Wednesday September 23 that “We have decided to temporarily suspend our strike action with effect from Thursday 24th September, 2020 at 8:00am pending the outcome of our negotiation.

“For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to indicate that the strike action is merely suspended and our gallant nurses, midwives, PAs and CRAs are to begin full work on Thursday, 24th September at 8 am with the morning shift.

“Our employer and the National Labour Commission were attempting to incite the court against with regard to citing of contempt and subsequently arrest my good self and the leadership amounts to gross intimidation, which is pathetic knowing that they haven’t served us properly.”
