An earth tremor with unknown magnitude shook most parts of Accra late Saturday night leaving residents in the affected areas terrified.
Unlike the recent tremors which were restricted the western part of Accra known to be the earth-quake prone area of the capital city, Saturday’s is said to be the largest in recent years as it stretched beyond those areas.
Within seconds, the earth tremor which was recorded at exactly 11:29pm Saturday rippled through the Weija and McCarthy areas, Ablekuma Kasoa, Madina, Christian Village, Oyarifa, North Kaneshie, Sowutuom, Abelemkpe, and Legon among other surrounding areas.
There are no reports of disaster.
Officials of the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA) are yet to release a statement on the incident barely 10 hours after.

In the wake of the frequent tremors occurring in recent times, the Authority has asked Ghanaians to prepare for a possible earth tremor.
According to a senior expert at the GGSA, Nicholas Opoku, frequent tremors give an indication of an imminent earthquake, saying “It is a signal that we have to prepare for [earthquake] so that we are not taken by surprise”.
The last tremor recorded in Accra was on January 13, 2019 at about 5:01pm measuring 2.6 on the Richter Scale.
It lasted about six seconds and occurred about 18 km away from the Achimota Station of the GGSA. The seismometer showed the epicentre of the tremor was around Weija.
Earlier on December 9, 2018, a similar tremor was recorded at about 7:50am.
