Former President John Dramani Mahama has joined in the ongoing global condemnation of the President of the United States, Donald Trump over his decision to ban refugees from some selected countries from traveling in America.
According to the former Ghanaian president, the ongoing African Union Summit should deliberate over the issue and address it accordingly.
In a tweet on Tuesday January 31, 2017 the former president added his voice to the many millions who have condemned the US president’s 90 day ban.
He said “The @POTUS travel ban is regrettable. The ongoing AU summit must address this development.”

Mr. Trump says his administration has placed a ban on refugees and citizens from some seven countries with a Moslem majority, a decision that has been met with massive disagreement.
The US president says his decision is aimed at protecting his country indicating that the ban is not a ban against Islam or a religions ban but against extremists and terrorists.
The countries that have been affected include Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
Some African countries have also reacted sharply to Mr. Trump and the White House’s position. Ghana’s former president, who happened to also be a former chair of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is calling on the current AU leadership to take a serious look at the travel ban.
