The embattled Chief Executive Officer of Menzgold Ghana Limited has been arrested, according to the Ghana Police Service.
Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM1, has been arrested since Friday, December 7, 2018 by police in Dubai, a statement from their Ghanaian counterparts said.
The information was relayed to the Service just on Sunday, January 13.
His arrest was to facilitate investigations into suspicion that he had been involved in a gold-trading deal, which had gone bad, in Dubai.
“Ghanaian officials have visited NAM1 in the custody of Dubai Police,” the statement said.
Since an order for the shutdown of his gold-dealership firm in September, 2018, the extravagant Nana Appiah Mensah has not been seen in public.
He has, however, resorted to social media to reply his critics.

Unknowingly, he had been suspected of a bad deal within the United Arab Emirates, the purpose for which Emirati officers nabbed him.
There have been a series of demonstrations by aggrieved customers to have Nana Appiah Mensah brought to book.
On Wednesday, January 9, the courts in the name of the president ordered the arrests of him and two other directors – Rose Tetteh and Benedicta Appiah.
International Police (INTERPOL) was consequently alerted.
This triggered correspondence between police in Dubai and Ghana that Nana Appiah Mensah was already in the former’s custody but on a different issue.
“Engagements with Dubai authorities on the next steps have commenced and the police administration assures the public that due process will be followed,” the police statement on Monday indicated.
Already, a Member of Parliament has cautioned against the criminal prosecution of the embattled CEO, advising customers to tread cautiously.
Alexander Afenyo-Markin claims customers will not have a penny from Menzgold if they do not approach the case with caution.
