Delays have characterised voting at some polling stations in Nigeria’s general elections leaving many voters frustrated Saturday morning.
Polls were expected to have started 8:00am Nigerian time across the country but as at 10:00am, electoral officials were then setting up for voting to commence, our correspondent, Komla Klutse who is monitoring the election reported a while ago.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had arrived at the Durumi Primary School in Garki, Abuja, and started setting up, two hours after voting was originally scheduled to start, he reported
Voters who arrived at some polling centres as early as 3:00am Saturday were angered by the delays.
The election is said to be one of the most fiercely contested in the country as the outcome will determine whether the incumbent Buhari-led APC will retain power or the main opposition party, PDP, will wrestle power and bring former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, back to power.
Meanwhile, President Buari has already cast his vote.
