President Donald Trump has declared Sunday, March 15 as a National Day of Prayer throughout the United States of America (USA) in the face of the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
Addressing the nation on Friday, the US President also outlined measures taken to stem the further spread of the virus after declaring a national emergency.
He announced the ban of flights from 26 European nations except for returning US citizens as well as UK and the Republic of Ireland.
So far, nearly 2,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the US with 43 deaths.
“It is my great honour to declare Sunday, March 15th as a National Day of Prayer,” he announced at the White House.
“We are a country that, throughout our history, has looked to God for protection and strength in times like these.
“No matter where you may be, I encourage you to turn towards prayer in an act of faith. Together we will easily prevail.”
