Kumasi Asante Kotoko is one of a biggest brands in Ghana football and a giant in Africa.

It is always a privilege to be called by the club’s life patron Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to serve the royal club and Evelyn Nsiah Asare has made her name as the only woman to serve on the newly constituted board.

In 2019, she was one of the candidates to stand for the Executive Council position for women football.

She came second with only one vote short of winner Madam Habiba Atta but that has not stopped her from doing what she loves best especially with women’s football

Aside being the only female on the newly appointed board members of Ghana Premier League giants Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Mrs Evelyn Nsiah Asare is one of the three people with experience in football management on the newly-formed board.

Profile

She obtained her Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’ from St. Joseph College of Education, the then St. Joseph Training College (JOSCO).

She obtained a Bachelor of Education in Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sports (HPERS) degree from the University of Education Winneba (UEW) and an MBA (Logistics and Supply Chain Management) degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). And currently pursuing her MPHIL in procurement management at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

She held various positions prior to her lecturing job. She was the Zonal Physical Education Organiser and District Sports Treasurer for the Tano District. She was the Vice Chair Person for the then Brong Ahafo Women Football Association.

She was the Assistant Coach for the Ghana Under-14 female national team. She also served as a Branch Manageress for Anointed Electricals Services Limited, Kumasi from where she was recruited by Sunyani Technical University to join the academic staff as a lecturer.

Due to her passion for sports, she also doubles as the Acting Sports Manageress for the University. She has five (5) scientific publications in Procurement and Supply Chain Management to her name.

Her research interest includes but not limited to, sustainable procurement, public procurement, supply chain management and logistics and transportation management.

Evelyn Nsiah Asare’s interest in journalism cannot be overemphasised, she was a radio presenter and analyst at Fox FM (Kumasi), Assistant Head of Sports at Space FM (Sunyani) and Radio Sports Presenter and Analyst at Kapital Radio (Kumasi).

With her intelligent and knowledge in football Mrs Nsiah Asare has occupied many positions in women’s football as she is the current CEO of Hassacas Ladies, the welfare officer for Ghana U20 female team the Black Princesses.

Speaking exclusively to Nana Akua Amankwaa of Tv3 Sports she said “It is an honour to be called upon to serve such a great brand like @AsanteKotoko_SC. I pledge to always avail myself whenever duty calls and to do my very best to help build a much greater Asante Kotoko SC. It is always a pleasure to serve my Kingdom and my King.”

Madam Nsiah Asare is not new to the football industry and the fabulous boys will hope a better change as she brings her experience on board to make Kotoko a great club.

The ace sports journalist, lecturer and a female football activist who has served on the various departments of the national women’s teams will augment the efforts of the men to lift the face of Asante Kotoko to the limitless height.

Manhyia Palace constituted a nine-member Board of Directors to steer the affairs of Asante Kotoko based on the demands of the Club Licensing Board of the Ghana Football Association.

The board was formed upon the recommendations of the three-member committee chaired by KNUST lecturer Prof. Lydia Nkansah.
