National sprint star Benjamin Kwaku Azamati lived up to the billing after clinching Gold in the men’s 100m final in the ongoing GUSA Games.
Azamati, representing the University of Ghana, clocked a time of 10.60s to beat University of Cape Coast’s Edwin Gadayi (10.64s) and University of Development Studies’ Fuseini Ibrahim (10.67s).
Coincidentally, Azamati had raced the two in the heats earlier on Wednesday, January 8.
He, however, did a better time of 10.56s to beat Gadayi (10.67s) and Ibrahim (10.71s).
Azamati was a member of Ghana’s 4 X 100m team that won Gold at the All Africa Games last year. He also joined the team to Doha for the World Athletics Championships.
Meanwhile, Kate Agyemang of the University of Development Studies won the women’s final with 11.86s.
She had to battle two students from the University of Cape Coast – Ali Latifa and Janet Mensah – in the finals to win Gold.
