The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) on Tuesday welcomed Delta Air Lines’ resumption of its Atlanta–Accra–Atlanta route, marking the return of a service long valued by travelers and Ghana’s diaspora community in the United States.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony held at Kotoka International Airport on December 2 celebrated the inaugural seasonal flight, which restores direct connectivity between Accra and Atlanta, one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs. Officials say the route revives a high-demand corridor, especially given the large Ghanaian community living in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Senior officials attended the event, including GACL Managing Director Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare; Rev. Stephen Wilfred Arthur, Director-General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority; U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Rolf Olson; Ghana Tourism Authority CEO Maame Efua Houadjeto; Delta Air Lines GSA General Manager Eloina Baddoo; and American Chamber of Commerce in Ghana CEO Doris Kafui Afanyedey.

The returning Delta service arrives in Accra at 9:25 a.m. and departs at 11:35 a.m., offering travelers a streamlined option for U.S.-bound connections.
In her remarks, Opare reaffirmed GACL’s commitment to facilitating new routes and supporting airline partners. She said the company expects Delta to maintain high service standards and deliver efficient, reliable travel experiences as passenger volumes continue to rise.
GACL extended its best wishes to Delta and expressed confidence that the renewed route will strengthen commercial ties, tourism, and mobility between Ghana and the United States.
