The Water Resources Commission (WRC) has issued a notice to stakeholders and the general public on the water levels of the Bagré Dam, ahead of an expected controlled spillage.
According to an update from SONABEL, operators of the dam in Burkina Faso, the reservoir’s water level stood at 232.93 metres as of Tuesday, August 4 with a filling rate of 62.77 percent.
SONABEL is reportedly planning to begin controlled spillage from the dam from Tuesday, August 11 should the reservoir reach the 234.00-metre mark.
The WRC has therefore advised communities along the White Volta River and adjoining areas to take the necessary precautions and adhere to safety guidelines issued by local assemblies and the appropriate agencies.
