Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, has assured that journalists injured in the line of duty will be compensated, reaffirming the state’s constitutional obligation to protect media practitioners.
Speaking at the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Dinner Night at the Ghana International Press Centre on Monday, December 23, Dr Srem-Sai said government remained firmly committed to press freedom as a pillar of Ghana’s democratic governance.
He outlined four key commitments: ensuring journalists are not harmed, preventing attacks by third parties, prosecuting perpetrators, and compensating affected journalists.
“We will not harm journalists. We will not allow anyone else to harm them,” he said, stressing that these responsibilities were not optional.
Dr Srem-Sai urged journalists to continue their work without fear, assuring them of state protection.
