The Bolgatanga Central Member of Parliament and Bank of Ghana board member, Isaac Adongo has commended Finance Minister Ato Forson for his handling of Ghana’s economy, describing his work as “impressive” and “Ghana-first.”
In an interview, Hon. Adongo praised Forson’s decisive actions since assuming office, noting the Finance Minister’s ability to take difficult decisions that some colleagues might shy away from. “To have done the things he has done in this short period, with the full backing of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, is remarkable,” he said.
Hon. Adongo highlighted Forson’s efforts in renegotiating over‑bloated tax exemptions, securing $9 million in benefits for Ghanaians, and ensuring transparency by submitting agreements for parliamentary approval under the Public Financial Management Act and Article 181(5). “This financial governance mentality will go down as one of his best legacies,” he added.
He also hinted at Forson’s potential political future, saying privately that, if he maintains his focus, “I don’t see the next president beyond him.” While stressing that Forson may not be contemplating a presidential run, Hon. Adongo emphasised that his dedication and results have impressed stakeholders and strengthened public confidence in the administration.
Forson’s work, the MP said, exemplifies disciplined economic management and accountability, earning him praise not only from government officials but also from the broader Ghanaian public.
