Air Tanzania has launched its maiden Dar es Salaam–Lagos–Accra service, becoming the latest international carrier to operate scheduled flights into Ghana and strengthening air links between East and West Africa.
The new route is expected to boost tourism, trade and business travel while supporting Pan-African integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Officials say the service will ease movement across key African markets and deepen economic cooperation.
Speaking at the launch ceremony in Accra, Tourism Minister Abla Dzifa Gomashie underscored the importance of improved air connectivity in driving tourism growth and cultural exchange. She invited travellers from East Africa to experience Ghana’s heritage and encouraged Ghanaians to explore Tanzania’s renowned natural and cultural attractions.

Representatives from both Ghana and Tanzania described the route as a strategic bridge for people-to-people engagement and commercial collaboration between the two regions.
The service further reinforces Ghana’s position as a gateway to West Africa and aligns with broader efforts to build a more connected and competitive African aviation market, as airlines expand intra-African routes to meet rising demand.
