The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 39-year-old suspect in connection with the murder of a University of Cape Coast (UCC) student.
The suspect, identified as Michael Mensah, was apprehended by the Inspector General of Police’s (IGP) Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at approximately 7:15 PM at the Pedu Lorry Station in Cape Coast.
The arrest followed sustained intelligence-led operations by the Police Service, a statement said.
The deceased has been identified as Innocentia Atsufui Avinu, a student of the University of Cape Coast.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that on Wednesday, June 10 t about 6:48 PM, the suspect — who claims to be a teacher by profession but also works as a driver — picked up the deceased from Ayensu Plaza within the UCC hostel enclave.He subsequently took her to Hutchland Beach, where she was last seen alive.The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that any further developments in the case will be duly communicated.3news.com | Onuaonline.com
