Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has stated that he has never been the subject of any investigation by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), following reports about an invitation from the anti-corruption agency.
In a statement setting out what he described as the facts regarding the EOCO invitation, the MP said it is rather SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited, a company his former law firm, Sarkodie Baffour Awuah & Partners, represented and still represents in legal matters, that is under investigation.
According to him, EOCO wrote to the firm on 10th February 2026, inviting its Senior Partner “to report to the Executive Director or his representative on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 10:00am at EOCO Head Office, Accra, to assist with the investigations.”
Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, who was then Senior Partner of the firm, responded to EOCO on 18 February 2026.
He informed the Office that he was now a Member of Parliament and had therefore referred the letter to the Clerk to Parliament for advice.
The MP said that following the referral, a lawful representative of the firm cooperated with EOCO interrogations on three occasions, namely 4th March 2026, 18th March 2026 and 30th April 2026.
He added that all the necessary information requested was provided, after which a formal written statement dated 30th April 2026 was submitted to EOCO in relation to the matter.
Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah further noted that since the firm’s representative engaged with EOCO and submitted the required information and written statement, there has been no further invitation.
