Controversial Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, has released a tribute song for the military officer who was gruesomely murdered Monday at the Central Regional town of Denkyira-Obuasi.

Capt. Mahama, a member of the 5th Infantry of the Ghana Armed Forces, was jogging at Denkyira-Obuasi at about 8:30am on May 29 when he was lynched and a part of his body set ablaze, the Military High Command confirmed in a statement issued Tuesday.

His murder has reignited calls for action to be taken to stem the tide on vigilantism and mob justice which has recently crept into the Ghanaian society, leading to the death of scores of innocent people.

Shatta Wale on Wednesday released a tribute song for the ‘fallen’ soldier who was on national assignment, stating that Captain Mahama might have been his fan.

Describing his death as ‘bad’, Shatta Wale apologised to the late soldier, promising Ghanaians will seek justice on his behalf.

“We’re truly sorry..” he said in the song, adding that though Ghanaians would pursue justice in the case, vengeances is for the Lord, saying “God punish all the people who did this” to Captain Mahama.

“To all the people who watch him die, I pray the Lord deals with you one by one. You’ll never go unpunished. This I pray!” he said

Titled “Justice for Mahama”, the song underscores the need for Ghanaians to “get wise” and stop the senseless acts of mob justice else one day “we will lose our lives from these things”, and urged Ghanaians to “let’s love ourselves, we don’t need this in our country…”

He asked “Ghana where is your love,” stating that “if you’ve got love, you won’t do this” to Captain Mahama.

The song was composed by Benisah Saviour (SM Baby)
