The Chief of Fatigi-To, Fatigi-To Wura Sakibu Issaka Takora I, has finalised talks with the Ambassador of Sudan to Ghana to provide scholarships to qualified students from the Wasipe area to study in Sudan.

The Chief recently visited the Sudanese Ambassador, Babikir Elsiddig Mohammaed Elamin, in Accra to receive the full assurance that qualified students from his traditional area, aggregate 15 or better, would be eligible to study at the International University of Africa (IUA) in Sudan for free.
The scholarship award, organized annually by Munazama Al Dawa Islamiya for graduates from Africa, would this time round, give special consideration to students from the Wasipe Traditional Area as a result of the negotiations that took place between the Fatigi-To Wura Takora I and Ambassador.
Courses available for consideration for student include; Medicine, Nursing, Laboratory Technology, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Applied Science, Petroleum Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Education, Arts, Islamic Education and many more.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency over the weekend, Fatigi-To Wura Takora I said the scholarship package would cover tuition, accommodation and feeding throughout the study period.
He however noted that, qualified students would only be responsible for their own air tickets and personal spending.
The Chief said his vision was to promote education, health, good sanitation, agriculture and human empowerment among others in his area.
He maintained that one of his major promises to the people during his enskinment was to exploit every available means to ensure quality education opportunities were made available for the youth in his jurisdiction.
The Chief described the upcoming 2018 free study in Sudan as one of the many opportunities to come the way of his people and expressed his gratitude to the Sudanese Ambassador.
He said the Wasipe Traditional Area was gifted with vast natural resources, tourism and other economic potentials, which were yet to be harnessed.
The Fatigi-To Wura Tokora I, who is also an IT Expert, observed that his people could harness those potentials and develop it economically, only if they were given the requisite empowerment through education.
He appealed to the youth in the area to take advantage of the opportunity to upgrade themselves and to be more qualified persons for any job in Ghana and beyond.
The Fatigi-To Wura Tokora I said he was also lobbying for local and foreign investors to develop the smock industry in Daboya, the capital of the Wasipe Traditional Area.
“Daboya is noted for its production of quality smocks suitable for local and international markets. But the industry has not received the needed attention from successive governments”, he said.
He said the smock industry in Daboya could provide employment for most of the idle youth in the Northern Region.
Fatigi-To Wura Takora I appealed to the government to give attention to the Smock industry to discourage the migration of the youth from the north to the southern parts of the country in search of menial jobs.
