Apostle Emmanuel Achim Gyimah addressing the delegates’ conference

After three years of meritorious service as the Chairman of the Greater Accra branch of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches (GPCC), Apostle Emmanuel Achim Gyimah has stepped down.

Aps. Achim Gyimah who is the Kaneshie Area Head of The Church of Pentecost decided to relinquish the chairmanship position ahead of his official retirement from active service in August this year by the church that seconded him to the GPCC.

He has served as a reverend minister in The Church of Pentecost for 33 years.

At the regional delegates’ conference in Accra Thursday, April 27 at the Assemblies of God (Liberty Centre) attended by hundreds of representatives of GPCC-member churches, Rev. Joseph Baafi of the Assemblies of God who served as Regional Vice Chairman was unanimously approved as the new Chairman to finish the remaining year of Aps. Achim Gyimah.

In a short sermon, Apostle Emmanuel Achim Gyimah exhorted Christians to unite, as Jesus Christ earnestly prayed  for the followers to be one in John  17.

In a single prayer, Jesus, four times, entreated Christians to be one, he said pointing out that “divisions in church show that we don’t agree with Jesus”.

Speaking on the topic: “Sustaining Your Stamina for the End Times”, Aps. Achim Gyimah stated that everything around suggests that the second coming of Christ will come soon. Read full message.

He read from Matthew 24 emphasising on verse 14 which states, “ And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come”, to back his observation.

Having done a lot of work on eschatology -relating to the end of the world -, Aps. Achim Gyimah remarked, “At first some of us found it very difficult to comprehend the possibility of sending the gospel to the whole world, especially the Muslim territories but now at the press of a button on our iPads , the gospel message easily gets to every corner, home, office and room of the globe. Thanks to the Internet and media technology.”

He therefore urged Christians to be watchful and lead a life that they would not be found wanton when Jesus Christ appears by drawing nearer to God and imitating the lifestyle of Jesus Christ.

He enumerated some of the achievements of his three-year stewardship as the Greater Accra Chairman of the GPCC. He mentioned among others the acquisition of new office and establishing Leadership Development Training Centre where 18 pastors and church leaders have already graduated and 400 graduating so far from its Youth Entrepreneurship programme.

WOMEN WING

The conference also inducted a nine-member Women’s Wing of the GPCC-Accra for a five-year tenure. The immediate past executives led by Madam Mary Kwaasi of the Apostolic Church of Ghana with Madam Juliana Gifty Owusu of The Church of Pentecost as the Vice were given plaques  and parcels in recognition of their stewardship.

The new executives are: Chairperson Mrs. Sabina A. Yawson, Assemblies of God; Vice Chairperson Mrs. Mercy Amoakohene, The Church of Pentecost; Secretary Mrs. Sarah N. Teifio; Treasurer Mrs. Rebecca Emi-Reynolds, Church of Christ; and Organiser Mrs. Olivia Dodoo, Foursquare Gospel Church.

The rest are Executive Member Rev. Mrs.Victoria Ahiahornu, Global Evangelical Church; with Pastor Hannah Yawson, Royal House Chapel; Gifty Debrah, Full Gospel Church Int.; and Mrs. Salomey Clottey of Divine Healers Church as members.

YOUTH DESK

The Greater Accra branch of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches for the first time created a youth desk. Elder Dr. Derek Amoateng of The Church of Pentecost, Rev. Dr. Freeman Osei Tete of More than Conquerors Assemblies of God, and Mr. Divine Aglago of Global Evangelical Church were confirmed as President, Vice and Treasurer respectively.

The two groups were sworn into office by the General Secretary of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches Apostle Samuel Yaw Antwi who was the special guest of honour at the delegates’ conference.
