President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced the reopening of all tourist sites and attractions across the country in Phase Two of the easing of the restrictions in the fight against coronavirus. In his 14th update on Sunday, July 26, the president stated that with immediate effect, all the tourist sites as well as open-air drinking spots can now begin to receive visitors. “The management of these facilities are tasked to enforce enhanced hygiene and social distancing protocols,” he cautioned, stressing, however, that “beaches, pubs, cinemas and nightclubs, however, remain closed until further notice”. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has lifted the restriction on the number of worshipers for religious services, extending the length of same from one hour to two hours. This is expected to take effect from Saturday, August 1. The fluctuations surrounding Ghana’s Covid-19 active cases continue as the number rises again despite the recent reduction. The latest case count by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) puts the number of active cases at 3,349. These remained after 28,927 persons either recovered or were discharged from the total confirmed cases recorded in the country since the outbreak of the disease. The Ghana Association of Bankers (GAB) has directed banks to turn away customers who report to the banking halls and other banking places with only face shields. The GAB says the shield must be accompanied with face masks as part of Covid-19 safety protocols. The Headmistress of Ghana Senior High School in Tamale, Hajia Amina Musah, has lamented over the deplorable nature of some dormitories in the school. She noted the current state of the dormitories poses a threat to the lives of the students occupying those blocks. Ghana has confirmed 794 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total cumulative cases to 31,841 as of Wednesday, July 22, 2020. These were cases reported between Saturday, June 13 and Tuesday, July 21, according to the latest update from Ghana Health Service (GHS). The number of recoveries-cum-discharges stands at 28,438, an 89.3 per cent rate, and deaths remain 161.
