Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has denied allegations that it instructed staff to withhold data on river turbidity and pollution levels, describing the claims as untrue. In a statement signed by the Managing Director and dated August 17, GWL responded to a video circulating on social media in which JoyNews journalist Evans Mensah alleged that GWL staff were threatened against releasing turbidity and pollution data, and that he was denied access to information at the Kwanyako treatment plant. The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has announced that the Tema-Achimota transmission tower is set to be replaced on Sunday, August 23. One Ghanaian evacuee from South Africa has passed away upon arrival at the Accra International Airport, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced. In a statement dated August 14, 2026, the Ministry said the death occurred at 6:55pm. According to the statement, the Ministry is undertaking the formalities of informing the family of the deceased, and has arranged for the deposit of the remains at the Police Hospital for autopsy. The National Identification Authority (NIA) is set to create more than 120 employment opportunities as it expands the rollout of 24-hour Prestige Centres across Ghana.
