Three children and two adults who tried to rescue them have been electrocuted in a water park in north-western Turkey, local media say. The incident happened in the town of Akyazi, in Sakarya province, 100km (62 miles) east of Istanbul. The park manager and his son dived in to help the three children. The five, believed to be all Turkish, were taken to hospital but could not be saved. It was unclear how the pool had become electrified. Football star Lionel Messi could avoid a 21-month prison sentence for tax fraud by paying a fine, Spanish media are reporting. Spain’s state prosecutor would swap jail time for a fine of €255,000 ($285,000; £224,000), which equates to €400 for each day behind bars. The National Media Commission has directed XYZ TV, Thunder TV and Ice TV to stop showing pornographic materials on their screens with immediate effect. An examination of the content of the three television stations showed that they broadcast sub-standard content as regards decency required by the Broadcasting Standards of the Commission. Government is calling for calm among Ghanaians as it promises to take steps to address issues to do with the two ex-detainees of Guantanamo Bay.
