The Supreme Court has described as incompetent a writ challenging the appointment of Otiko Afisa Djaba as Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection. An Accra District Court has rejected an application for the discharge of six of the accused persons standing trial for the murder of military officer Major Maxwell Mahama. The Court presided over by Worlanyo Kotoku on Tuesday maintained that the Attorney General, who acted in the absence of the lawyer for the accused, needed to come with a written application. The EU’s foreign policy chief says there is “full EU unity” in support of Jerusalem becoming the capital of both Israel and a future Palestinian state. Former South African athlete Oscar Pistorius has been hurt in a prison brawl, less than two weeks after his sentence for the killing of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp was more than doubled. The disgraced paralympian was allegedly involved in a fight over the use of a public phone, a prison department spokesman told the BBC. Inflation rose to 3.1% in November, the highest in nearly six years, as the squeeze on households continued.
