Disgraced ex-sports doctor Larry Nassar has been jailed for another 40 to 125 years for molesting young gymnasts. Nassar already faced a lifetime in jail for two prior sentences for sexually abusing girls at USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University. The judge said while it ends Nassar’s criminal legal proceedings, “it does not end the emotional and physical suffering he has caused”. A decision to lift life bans for doping on 28 Russian athletes was “extremely disappointing and surprising”, says International Olympic Committee chief Thomas Bach. On Thursday, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) overturned the suspensions of 28 Russians, and partially upheld 11 other appeals. “We would never have expected this,” said the 64-year-old German.
