Man Kaur, a 101-year-old athlete from India, won the 100 metres sprint at the World Masters Games in Auckland on Monday, celebrating with a little dance. Ms Kaur completed the race in one minute 14 seconds and was the only athlete to compete in her age category. She has been dubbed the “miracle from Chandigarh” in New Zealand’s media. The state had refused to issue a birth certificate for ZalyKha Graceful Lorraina Allah on the grounds that neither parent has that last name. At least seven people have died after an electric cable fell on fans watching a Manchester United match on TV in Nigeria, police say. The high-tension cable fell on a crowded shack showing the Europa League quarter-final against Anderlecht in the southern city of Calabar. Pressure is being mounted on the national executive of the Ghana Journalists’ Association (GJA) to step aside for an Interim Management Committee (IMC). Election of new officers initially scheduled for March 31 has been indefinitely postponed due to numerous petitions against the process. Some parts of the country’s capital city Accra were flooded on Thursday night after a downpour which lasted for almost an hour. www.3news.com gathers the Olusegun Obasanjo Highway was flooded with most road users unable to ply the stretch.
