Property owners in Kwahu in the Eastern Region have had to convert their homes into guest houses to accommodate bulging patrons of the annual Easter festivities. All hotels are fully occupied with some rooms booked as far back as last year. Some hotels have taken advantage of the situation to charge more than twice their rates with some guests having to compulsorily book for five days. Testimony released by the Brazilian Supreme Court alleges that builders and politicians illegally profited from the construction of stadiums used in the 2014 football World Cup. The plea bargain testimony was given by executives working for Odebrecht – the continent’s biggest construction firm. They claim there were irregularities in the bidding process for six stadiums including the Maracana in Rio. The latest corruption probe apparently involved almost all political parties. An agreement has been reached between government and American pilots to have locals trained to handle the annual paragliding festival in Kwahu-Atibie in the Eastern Region of Ghana. “It is not political talk,” Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Catherine Afeku said on Friday, April 14, when she launched this year’s paragliding festival. An eight-year old boy in Ohio safely drove his little sister to McDonald’s after learning to drive from YouTube, local news report. Ohio’s Morning Journal said police received calls from residents about a child driving through town.
