The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all constituencies to organize conferences not later than Monday, June 26 ahead of a national edition in Cape Coast, Central Region. The party has scheduled to hold the 2017 National Delegates Conference from Friday, August 25 to Sunday, August 27. Children who have TVs in their bedrooms are more likely to be overweight than those who do not, a study by University College London scientists suggests. For girls in particular, they found the longer spent watching TV, the more likely children were to put on weight. A 12-year-old girl from California has won the Scripps National Spelling Bee after a tense final in Washington. Ananya Vinay from Fresno correctly spelled the word marocain – a type of dress fabric – to defeat Rohan Rajeev, 14, from Oklahoma. SOS Children’s Villages-Ghana, a non-governmental organization, has embarked on a project as part of its Family Strengthening Programme. The project is aimed at sending about 100 children to school. New evidence found against the two suspected killers of former Member of Parliament of Abuakwa North Constituency have landed them back in court, two days after they were discharged. Daniel Asiedu and Vincent Bossu, who were arrested as the prime suspects in the stabbing to death of Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu, were discharged last Tuesday, May 30 following a nolle prosequi filed by the Attorney-General.
