A knife-wielding employee has killed three officers and one administrative worker at police headquarters in the centre of the French capital, Paris. The attacker, who has not been named, was shot dead by police. Witnesses described scenes of panic, with many people fleeing the building in tears. The area in the île de la Cité has been sealed off. Uber is testing new ground with an app to put casual workers in touch with employers, as it faces an increasingly tough climate for its core ride-hailing business. Uber Works will allow cleaners, bar staff and warehouse workers to compare pay rates and sign up for shifts. The app, which launches on Friday, will initially only be available in Chicago. Students of the University for Development (UDS), Navrongo Campus are threatening to demonstrate if management of the school fail to pay monies owed the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO) to have power restored on campus. NEDCO has disconnected the Navrongo campus of the UDS from its distribution network over arrears owed by the school since 2012.
