A senior military officer and one more civilian have been charged in the alleged “elaborate plot” to topple Ghana’s presidency and destabilise the peaceful West African nation. Police prosecutors on Friday arraigned Colonel Samuel kojo Gameli and a civilian employee of the Ghana Armed Forces, Gershon Akpa, on charges of possession of explosives, arms and ammunition without lawful excuse. Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) has served notice of its intention to withdraw from the controversial Power Distribution Services (PDS) concession deal with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). The Filipino company is blaming unfavourable political situation in Ghana for its decision. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been accused of flouting a Ghana Education Service (GES) directive banning political activities on campuses of Senior High Schools across the country.
