The Ghana Health Service together with its partners have officially launched the polio vaccination campaign in Accra. This is to intensify efforts by the key stakeholders in dealing with the cases of type 2 polio virus. The vaccination exercise targets children under five years. A collapsing bridge on the Sokode to Bame road in the Volta Region has forced a temporary closure of the road. Concrete pillars on which the bridge is mounted have weakened and developed serious cracks exposing iron rods. Cracks have also developed on the surface of the road on the bridge while concrete barricades on the bridge have also been falling off. The National Disaster Management Organisation in Ho warned drivers and road users to avoid that stretch of the road due to the weak nature of the bridge. Six persons, who sustained gunshot wounds during the celebration of the Fire Festival on Monday, have been admitted at the Salaga Government Hospital in the Savanna Region. One of them, a 14-year-old boy, sustained critical condition wounds and had to be referred to Tamale Teaching Hospital where his condition was stablised. It has emerged that SBC Beverages Ghana Limited, the sole franchisee and bottler of the Pepsi cola range of products in Ghana, used expired concentrate to manufacture two of its products released onto the market. Document sighted by 3news.com revealed that thousands of crates of RGB Mirinda Pineapple and RGB Mirinda Fruity which were manufactured from November 9, 2018 to August 5 this year, were produced with expired concentrate. Three Nigerians and one Togolese have been arrested in Accra for unlawfully detaining and torturing two men serving as their house help. Samuel Ekeh and Ayena Tonton Komlan were chained and locked up in a toilet, and brutalized by the four suspects for days in a bid to coerce them to admit to stealing 5,000 cedis, the Police have said. The victims, who have worked for the suspects for the past two years, have since been issued with medical forms to receive treatment and examination. The ultramodern University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) will from November 1 scale up its operations as contractors work earnestly to complete the facility for full operations to begin, management of the facility has revealed.
