The Kumasi metro education directorate has bemoaned the low turnout of new entrants to kindergarten. Metro director, Martha Owusu Agyemang, entreated parents and guardians to send their wards to school to complement the government’s effort of making education free from basic to senior high level. A schoolgirl in Kenya has taken her own life after allegedly being shamed in class for having her period and staining her uniform. The 14-year-old’s mother said her daughter hanged herself after being humiliated by a teacher, Kenyan media reported. Police used tear gas to disperse a crowd of about 200 parents protesting outside the school, reports said. Kenya passed a law in 2017 to provide free sanitary towels for schoolgirls. Robert Mugabe’s family say they are shocked at not having been consulted by the government about arrangements for the funeral of the former Zimbabwean president. Mr Mugabe, who was 95, died last week while undergoing medical treatment in a Singapore hospital. His body is being prepared to lie in state at a football stadium in Zimbabwe’s capital, Harare. The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) is warning the public to be on the lookout for expired Lucozade products, following a detection of some expired products on the market. In a release by the FDA, some Lucozade products were intercepted by the Authority with the expiry dates tampered with and changed from September 2019 to September 2020. The FDA visited a warehouse located in Lapaz upon a tip-off from a journalist where they chanced on some persons changing the dates on the products.
