A taxi driver has allegedly been shot dead within the Sekondi/Takoradi metropolis of the Western Region. He was allegedly shot three times in the chest by some unknown assailants believed to be armed robbers. His body was then dumped at Dunkwa, near Beposo in the Shama District. The Volta Regional Police Command has arrested a carpenter, Fofo Amedo Kwame, at Adaklu Sagbele for allegedly murdering an eight-year-old girl at Nyive, in the Ho Municipality. The carpenter after his arrest led the police to pick a 12-year-old boy, he claimed was his accomplice. Hospital staff, visitors and patients who access healthcare from the Salaga Government Hospital in the Savannah Region have resorted to open defecation due to lack of a functioning toilet at the facility, authorities have revealed. The only toilet facility for the hospital which was constructed in 2002 under the HIPC project has deteriorated forcing, visitors to abandon it to defecate in the open around the hospital. The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) says it did not sanction or approve the termination of contracts of some caterers under the programme. Some caterers across the country had their appointment with the programme “unilaterally terminated” and new ones appointed while others were reallocated to different schools by some Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies. Government has asked authorities at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to reconsider the decision converting Kantanga Hall, an all-male hall of residence, into a mixed one.
