President Nana Akufo-Addo has ordered the Ministry of Finance to with immediate effect, suspend the use of the controversial management software in the educational sector, which has triggered agitations in the sector. Government through the Public Services Commission adopted the use of the Human Resources Management Information System (HRMIS) in 2012 to establish a comprehensive and a common human resource database for all public service employees in the country. Some government institutions were moved onto the system in phases. The National Teaching Council has begun registering prospective candidates to sit for the teacher licensure examination. It has consequently asked the teacher training institutions to submit names of trainees who have passed their final College of Education examination to the Council for their registration for the licensure examination. “Institution that fails to abide by this directive may deny their students access in registering for the [exams],” a statement issued by the Council Tuesday said. Police prosecutors have slapped murder charges on seven persons accused of killing two police officers last week at Kasoa in the Central Region. The seven, including the key suspect in the shooting incident Eric Kojo Duah, who were put before the Kaneshie District Court Monday, are facing additional charges of conspiracy and abetment of crime. Comedian and actor Kevin Hart was taken to hospital with “major back injuries” on Sunday following a car accident in Los Angeles. According to the California Highway Patrol, Hart was being driven in his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda on Mulholland Highway at the time of the accident. The driver, Jared Black, lost control of the car and it tumbled into an embankment, the report stated. Black also sustained major back injuries. A third passenger was unhurt. A student pilot in Australia safely landed a light aircraft during a flying lesson, after his instructor passed out at the controls. Western Australian man Max Sylvester made a distress call to air traffic control about an hour into his flight on Saturday when his teacher collapsed beside him. Operators at an airport in Perth helped him guide the aircraft to the ground. Mr Sylvester was later praised for his quick response and composure.
