Energy Minister, Peter Amewu has confirmed to TV3 that some documents presented by Power Distribution Services for the ECG concession agreement were fraudulently done. Since 2014, over 96,000 women in northern Ghana saved USD $7.8 million – or about GH¢42,659,747 – and invested the money to improve the health, education, nutrition, and economic opportunities of their families. Thousands of fans have gathered in Ivory Coast’s capital Abidjan to pay tribute to musician DJ Arafat. The 33-year-old Ivorian, whose real name was Ange Didier Huon, died in a motorcycle accident earlier this month. Hundreds of Ivorian artists took part in a stadium concert, with President Alassane Ouattara among its attendees. Huon’s coffin was later brought to the stadium and then carried away to a local cemetery for burial. The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has conferred on the Ya Naa, Abukari Mahama II, the title of “Goodwill Ambassador” for national road safety. The title, which was conferred on him by officials of the NRSA at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi, was in recognition of the Dagbon Overlord’s selflessness in offering counsel to road users and his commitment to improving road safety in the country. Ghana has denied claims that foreign nationals in its prisons across the country are maltreated and discriminated against by prison authorities. A Nigerian serving 130-year jail term at the Ankaful Maximum Security Prison in a message smuggled out of the prison in 2015 claimed Nigerians in Ghanaian prisons were placed under unbearable conditions, and that some have died without their families being informed. An eight member delegation from Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has held bilateral talks in India. The delegation has also together with the Ghana High Commission in India participated in a Foreign Office Political Consultation with the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of India. Police in the Savannah Region have arrested two suspected armed robbers said to be operating on the Sawla-Wa highway. Their names have been given as Yakubu Haruna, 24 years and 18-year old Seidu Haruna. The arrest has been hailed by the people in the area who have described it as a great breakthrough in the fight against robbery in the Sawla-Tuna Kalba district.
