Staff of waste management company, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, and environmental health officers drawn from various districts of the Upper West and Upper East regions have been trained in effective larval source management in their areas. Larval source management is used in controlling malaria breeding in aquatic habitats to reduce mosquito population and vector-borne diseases. This follows an order for the company to shut down over its inability to fulfill its financial obligations by generating enough revenue. Donewell Insurance Company Limited (DICL) has expressed shock at allegations made by Qatar-based insurance firm Al Koot Insurance and Reinsurance Company in guarantees that saw Ghana’s electricity distribution service ceded to Power Distribution Services Ghana Limited (PDS). Power Distribution Services Ghana Limited (PDS) has been handed some services by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to handle until the Energy Commission takes a final decision on the suspended concession agreement.
