A forensics expert at the University of Cape Coast, Dr Richmond Afoakwah is calling on the families of the three Takoradi kidnapped girls to cooperate with the police and all relevant state institutions in determining whether or not the recently discovered human remains are those of the missing girls. Even though the families of the girls Tuesday maintained that they have lost confidence in the police and would not cooperate in the DNA forensic investigations into remains recovered from the residence of prime suspect, Samuel Udoetuk Wills, Dr. Afoakwah wants them to soften their stance. They demanded that an independent…
A newly-released tool that exploits a vulnerability in Facebook’s WhatsApp allows you to “put words in people’s mouths”, researchers say. A team from cybersecurity firm Checkpoint has demonstrated how the tool can be used to alter the text within quoted messages, making it look as if a person had said something they did not. Researcher Oded Vanunu told the BBC the tool made it possible for “malicious actors” to manipulate conversations on the platform. Facebook would not provide a comment on the issue. The tool was demonstrated at Black Hat, a cyber-security conference in Las Vegas, as a follow up…
Female MPs have walked out of Kenya’s parliament in solidarity with a colleague who was ordered to leave because she had taken her baby. Zuleika Hassan said she had brought her five-month-old baby with her to work because of a domestic emergency and that parliament didn’t have a creche. According to the house rules, “strangers” are not allowed into the chamber, children included. Some of her male colleagues described her actions as shameful. Speaker Christopher Omulele ordered Ms Hassan out of the chamber and said that she could return without the baby. Some MPs shouted and others started shoving each…

Chief executive of MenzGold Ghana, Nana Appiah Mensah, is being given what is said to be “urgent medical attention”, his team has announced. He was subsequently tried on misdemeanour charges but was acquitted and discharged. NAM1, who…
More state buildings, from which some judges were evicted, have been demolished to pave the way for construction work on the controversial national cathedral to begin at the plush Accra Ridge. About 50 buildings made up of offices and residential apartments for state officials, have been earmarked for demolishing. Court of Appeal judges who occupied some of the residential facilities constructed by the Judicial Service some five years ago, were evicted late last year and given a temporarily accommodation set to cost the state some 168,000 dollars in 18 months. All buildings within the Ridge enclave from the Ridge roundabout…

Tunisian club Esperance have been declared African Champions League winners after the Confederation of African Football’s disciplinary committee on Wednesday found opponents Wydad Casablanca guilty of abandoning the second leg of the final in May. This reverses an earlier decision by the CAF executive committee to order a replay of the second leg, in which the Moroccan side refused to play on after a VAR controversy. Both clubs had appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which last week found that the CAF executive committee’s decision was wrong and ordered the case to be heard by CAF’s disciplinary committee. Both clubs were also fined after…
