Some Chinese illegal miners have invaded Kwahu and its environs in the Eastern region after they were chased out of the Western and Central Regions by government taskforce on illegal mining. Some excavators and small scale mining equipment have been assembled in the area. Utility provider, Power Distribution Services Ghana (PDS) says a scheduled maintenance on Tuesday would lead to power outages in some areas in the national capital, Accra. The areas to be affected will go off for at least eight hours. The maintenance work is expected to improve service delivery to customers, the company said in a notice on Monday. “In this regard, the follow areas will experience power outage on Tuesday, 23rd July, 2019 from 9:00am to 5:00pm,” it noted.
