The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) has distributed two million pineapple suckers to two export farmers at Pokrom in the Eastern Region. Each of the two two farms – Golden Rivers Farm and Ohui Farms – received one million suckers. The move is to enable the export farmers expand their farms in a bid to increase the export of the non traditional product, which is the leading agriculture product in the non traditional export sector. Police in Daboya have arrested five (5) persons for allegedly attempting to kidnap a 14 year old Gafaru Tonga at Singa in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region. The suspects who are all weavers from Daboya have been identified as: Alhassan Abdulai, 18 years; Alidu Taufic, 25 years; Osman Rashid, 19 years; Amidu Hafiz, 20 years; and Amadu Abdulai, 21 years. The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) has contributed 100 million Ghana Cedis towards the Planting for Food and Jobs initiative started by the government in 2017 to boost agricultural production in the country. Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP), Freddie Blay, has denied claims by the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) that he has not been cooperative in an ongoing investigation into the procurement of some 275 buses for the NPP. The commission had claimed it has not been able to serve Mr. Blay an invitation to appear before it for hearing and has thus proceeded to the high court praying he be jailed for avoiding investigations. Management of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has tasked consumers to report persons who sell sub-standard products on the market.
