President Nana Akufo-Addo on Wednesday shrugged off threats from the chiefs and people of Nkoranza and named Techiman as the regional capital for the newly created Bono East Region. Issuing the constitutional instrument (CI 113) to give effect to the 13th region in Ghana, the President assured that he would ensure fair and equitable distribution of wealth and development across the entire Bono East Region. Controversial Member of Parliament for Assin Central Ken Ohene Agyapong who described Ghana’s parliament as “cheap and useless,” has been found guilty for contempt, and is to be suspended by the House. The privileges committee which investigated the matter concluded in its report that “Mr. Ken Ohene Agyapong is indeed in contempt of parliament for the remarks he made that ‘Parliament is cheap’ and ‘parliament is useless’”. Construction and installation work will soon begin on an ultramodern wastewater treatment plant to solve the perennial faecal waste disposal problem in Kumasi and surrounding communities. The 1,000 cubic metre plant is a joint project between Ghana and Hungary and will be executed by Sewerage Systems Ghana, a subsidiary of the Jospong Group and Pureco Limited of Hungary. Seven persons have been arrested in connection with the burning of the Salaga South New Patriotic Party Constituency Office by a section of the youth Tuesday February 12,2019. The Bank of Ghana (BoG) says the cedi has relatively been stable against the major international trading currencies on the world market, contrary to the impression created by some Ghanaians.
