Thousands of polytechnic and technical university students across the country are unable to apply for jobs as they have been denied academic certificates. Though the students have completed their three-year HND courses and served their national service, the polytechnics and the technical universities have not graduated them. The students say they have not been graduated because government has failed to constitute the governing councils for the polytechnics and the technical universities. The president of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, has said his country has “a problem” with its judiciary after the Supreme Court cancelled his victory in last month’s presidential election. Speaking on live television, he vowed to “fix” the court if re-elected. It comes a day after the Supreme Court cited irregularities in the vote and ordered a new one within 60 days. South Africa’s Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has admitted having an extra-marital affair, but denied reports of multiple affairs. Speaking after allegations about his private life were published in newspapers, he accused political opponents of trying to smear him. A youth group in Paga, the capital of the Kasena-Nankana West district in the Upper East Region has mobilized some funds to construct a medical theatre for the district’s clinic. Their efforts are aimed at elevating the district clinic to a hospital status to better serve the many communities in the district and beyond. The clinic has served more than 150 communities in the district and other foreign nationals mostly from neighboring Burkina Faso and Mali but the available facilities are not able to contain the numbers that seek medical attention. The Ministry of the Interior has advised gaming operators to display a sign post in front of their businesses to discourage under-aged children from engaging in the activity. The Ministry, therefore, urged the Gaming Commission to play its role by effectively monitoring their activities to ensure that the right persons were engaged in the industry.
