A man, said to be 45 years old, was Monday dawn shot dead during an alleged highway robbery at Yikurugu, a suburb of Zebilla in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region. Zougmore Sulleymane, was said to have been shot by the robbers when he refused an order to surrender his belongings during the robbery attack on the 207 Mercedes Benz bus they were travelling on. National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament for Wassa East, Isaac Adjei Mensah, has accused the District Chief Executive nominee, Wilson Arthur, of masterminding an attack on him leading to the destruction of his vehicle. Israel’s prison service has released a video purportedly showing the leader of a three-week-old hunger strike by Palestinian inmates eating in his cell. The service said Marwan Barghouti had been filmed consuming cookies in secret on 27 April and a snack bar on 5 May. Erratic power supply, high inflation, high taxes, exchange rate volatility, and the high cost of credit, among a host of other business crippling factors, led the industrial sector down a negative growth path last year. Quarterly GDP figures released by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) last week show that the sector recorded a year-on-year annual GDP growth rate of -1.4percent for 2016.
